Driving is not always an easy undertaking. Individuals who must operate their vehicles on Pennsylvania's many roads and highways are aware of the significant distractions and complications that can present themselves during the course of a trip. For example, a driver may have to contend with weather hazards, construction, and dangerous drivers all on top of the regular traffic that can clog throughways and cause delays to individuals who have places to go.
However, drivers are still responsible for maintaining control of their vehicles and following the rules of the road. Just recently a dangerous multi-vehicle accident occurred in the state that claimed the life of a 61-year-old woman. The accident happened when a 19-year-old woman collided with another vehicle that was stopped for pothole construction and that vehicle was pushed into several other vehicles in front of it.
What makes this tragic story even more frustrating is that there is no good answer for why the accident happened. Investigators have confirmed that weather was not an issue at the time of the crash and that the responsible driver would have had a clear view of the road in front of her prior to causing the fatal collision.
Two other individuals suffered injuries in the collision, though they are expected to recover. The driver who caused this catastrophe may face criminal charges for her conduct, though those charges would not stop the victims of this incident from filing their own civil claims against her for their losses.
The family members of the deceased victim may have options to seek their damages through a wrongful death claim on behalf of their lost loved one. Personal injury attorneys who work with car accident victims can provide them with more information about this particular negligence-based claim.
