Cinco de Mayo means increase of drunk driving

| May 4, 2017 | drunk driving |

It seems that nearly every month throughout the year there is a holiday for Americans to go out and celebrate. Our country has our own holidays to celebrate like Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day and Thanksgiving. Plus we go out and embrace other holidays such as Saint Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo, which celebrates Mexico’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla. And, with these holidays, many throughout the United States, including those from the Lehighton, Pennsylvania area, go out with friends to have a few drinks.

Unfortunately, all too often a drink or two turns into more and more. Alcohol itself is a drug which affects not only a person’s thought process and judgements, but impairs a person’s motor skills as well. This, as we all know, can be a dangerous combination.

Law enforcement throughout the state and throughout the country have strict laws in place to discourage drinking and driving. Yet, every day it is believed that hundreds of thousands get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol. In the past, it may have been you. And, in the future, it may be you.

Anyone arrested for drunk driving faces very serious penalties that could severely affect their lives. Here at Rapa Law Office, P.C., we understand how important it is to protect your future. A drunk driving conviction could lead to license revocation and suspension, fines, pricey insurance surcharges, possible time in prison and even the possibility of an ignition interlock device installed in your car, at your expense, depending on the circumstances of your arrest.
